Cultural Diplomacy

About Programme

SSCC, through its Policy Advisory Member, Hedva Ser, who is also UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Diplomacy, has been involved in Art Camps in plastic arts which Andorran National Commission for UNESCO established in 2008 at the global level. These biennial programmes are held for painters and sculptors in Andorra. They have been extended at the level of the Mediterranean in Art Camps in Malta, and at the Manila SDG Conference in December2021, they also covered South East Asian (ASEAN) countries.

At the initiative of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Diplomacy, Mrs. Hedva Ser, who is also a member of SSCC Advisory Policy Board, SSCC has put together a group of academic institutions to unite what was practiced in the past in plastic arts to all others arts and thus strengthen cultural diplomacy. The following institutions are included on the current network:

  •  Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, (UNIRIO), led by its rector Ricardo Cardoso and Jeff Fagundes, Youth Ambassador of SSCC and researcher at UNIRIO.

  • University of Valle, Cali, Colombia, led by Alejandro Gonzalez Puche, academic coordinator.

  • University of St. La Salle – Bacolod, Western Visayas, Philippines led by Tania Lopez, Chair, Culture and Arts Program Committee.

  • University ROMA TRE in Roma, led by Professor Merluzzi, a new member of Scientific and Academic Committee.

  • Northwest Mindanao College of Technology, led by its President Dr Glen Reyes, a new member of SSCC Scientific and Academic Committee.

  • Universidad del Pacifico, led by its Chancellor, Dr. Sonia Roca, also member of SSCC Scientific and Academic Committee.itutions

Extension of Global Art Camp Programme to ten ASEAN countries, Manila 3/10 October 2021

This programme took place at the T Manila SDG event from 3 to 10 October 2021.

Cultural heritage of Africa in South America and the Caribbean

This programme will be implemented primarily in Latin America and Africa, with lead agencies being UNIRIO and SSCC in partnership with SSCC members from West and East and Southern Africa in partnership with UNESCO.

Community theatre and strengthening of identify of indigenous peoples

Indigenous populations of South and Central America have been particularly badly impacted by civil conflict and also environmental degradation. This aspect of cultural diplomacy will be developed by Universities in Brazil, Colombia and the Philippines.

Tree Planting Ceremony for the Pan African Heritage Museum in Ghana

Hon Kojo Ankah, Founder and Chairman of Pan African Heritage Museum marked the first phase of the museum launch at a tree planting ceremony on 24th March in Accra. This first phase of the Tree Planting exercise will cover the one-kilometer access road to the Museum site on the hilltop. at Pomadze Hills, near Winneba Junction, A sod-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 5th May, 2021, which is also designated as World Heritage Day. The construction of the Museum is expected to be completed in December 2022 for commissioning in July 2023.

Cultural Diplomacy in Post Covid World and Partners in Europe, North And South America, Asia, Africa and Middle East (General)

SSCC is pleased to announce the start of its biggest and most ambitious project on Cultural Diplomacy. Twenty-one academic and other institutions have joined this programme which is led by SSCC and Academia Dimitri, SUPSI (The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland), and shortly, also, by the University of Salento in Italy.
