SSCC Participation at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan

November 5, 2024 – The South-South Cooperation Council (SSCC) is honored to announce its active participation in the upcoming COP29 Climate Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan. At the invitation of the Azerbaijani government, which hosted the Non-Aligned Movement presidency from 2019 to 2023, Viktor Sebek, Chairman of SSCC, will deliver a key address at a high-level event on November 15, focusing on the role of South-South Cooperation in tackling climate change.

Collaboration with International Partners

In addition to this keynote address, Dr. Sebek will join a coalition of global organizations, including Earthsavers (UNESCO Artist for Peace), Climate Institute in Washington, Art’s Planet, Energies 2050, and leading institutions from Korea and China. These partnerships will contribute to multiple side events highlighting the intersection of climate action, cultural heritage, and sustainable development goals.

Launch of the SDG ResiliArt Olympics

One of the major side events will be the Launching of the SDG ResiliArt Olympics on November 19. This event will explore how arts and cultural heritage can drive climate awareness, promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and foster leadership for peace and a just transition.
