The South-South Cooperation Council (SSCC) was honored to be invited to the Second Latin American Forum of Ideas, held on November 28–29, 2024, in Asunción, Paraguay. Organized by the Misión Presidencial, the Global Peace Foundation, and its Paraguayan partners, this prestigious event brought together regional leaders to address pressing issues and craft strategies for a sustainable future.
The forum, known for fostering collaboration across Latin America, hosted distinguished former presidents from Guatemala, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Uruguay, alongside ministers, policymakers, and key stakeholders from across the region.
SSCC's Contribution to Environmental Discussions
The SSCC’s participation was a highlight of the forum, particularly in the session dedicated to environmental sustainability. During this segment, recommendations crafted by SSCC and its partners during the Baku Declaration were formally presented and accepted. These proposals emphasized innovative and collaborative approaches to addressing climate change, aligning with the global agenda for sustainable development.
The recommendations showcased the importance of integrating culture, arts, and indigenous knowledge into environmental policy, as outlined in Baku’s resolutions. This endorsement sets a strong foundation for the region's preparations for COP30 in Belém, Brazil.
