Bogotá, Colombia – On October 11, the South-South Cooperation Council (SSCC) proudly hosted a remarkable concert as part of its Music for Peace program. The event featured the celebrated Serbian singer Biljana Krstić and her orchestra Bistrik, captivating the audience with the soulful rhythms of the Balkans in one of Colombia’s most prestigious venues, Teatro Julio Mario Santo Domingo.
In a unique cultural exchange, the concert, titled Spirit of the Balkans, saw collaboration between Balkan and Colombian artists. Jahir Rivera, a virtuoso harpist and member of the SSCC Board of Directors, joined another talented Colombian artist to perform two traditional Balkan songs. In return, the Balkan musicians delighted the audience with their renditions of two iconic música llanera pieces, showcasing the rich tapestry of global cultural heritage.
Claudia Turbay, SSCC’s Director of External Affairs, hosted a private cocktail reception at her Bogotá residence to honor the visiting artists. This event further solidified the cultural bonds fostered through SSCC’s initiatives.
The success of this concert reaffirms SSCC’s commitment to promoting peace through cultural diplomacy. Plans are already underway to expand the Music for Peace program, bringing more such enriching collaborations to the global stage.
