Meeting with Chairman of Azerbaijan’s National NGO Forum Marks New Milestone for SSCC

In a significant step towards enhancing South-South cooperation, Mrs. Cecile Alvarez, member of the SSCC Policy Advisory Board, President of Earthsavers Philippines, and UNESCO Artist for Peace, along with SSCC Chairman Viktor Sebek, met with Mr. Ramil Iskandarli, Chairman of the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum. This meeting took place during the ongoing COP Conference in Baku, setting the stage for deeper collaboration.

Forging Strategic Partnerships

Mr. Iskandarli, a prominent figure in Azerbaijan’s civil society landscape, has been instrumental in advocating for human rights and social development. His leadership of the National NGO Forum and his role in the State Agency for Support of NGOs have fostered a robust environment for civil engagement and international cooperation.

The meeting highlighted mutual interests in tackling critical global challenges such as climate change, education, and peacebuilding. Both parties emphasized the need for shared learning and resource mobilization to drive sustainable solutions across the Global South.

Upcoming SSCC Coalition Event

Marking this collaboration, Mr. Iskandarli and his delegation will join SSCC’s coalition event in Baku on November 19, 2024. The event aims to bring together leaders and changemakers to discuss actionable strategies for sustainable development, underscoring the role of NGOs in shaping inclusive policies.
