SSCC is pleased to announce that one of its youth ambassadors, Juan Pablo Merchan, has been invited to attend a forum in Baku, from 27 to 30 April, entitled “Institutionalising the Global South NGO Platform”. Over 100 representatives from South America, Africa, and Asia will attend.

This platform was created in Baku during COP20 in November 2024, when the SSCC Chairman, as well as Cecile Alvarez, Dewy Sacayan and Nasir Khattak, all members of SSCC, were in attendance. Now that Azerbaijan will hand over the chairmanship of COP to Brazil at the Belem COP30 in November 2025, the Government of Azerbaijan has decided to create a permanent Global South NGO Platform (GSNP), which will be headquartered in Baku, Azerbaijan. SSCC looks forward to cooperating with this.
