Initiating a Programme on Preserving  Ancestral Kowledge of Indigenous Peoples of the Americas

Claudia Turbay, SSCC Director for External Affairs and SSCC Chairman met in Bogota with Mamo   Arwa-Wiku (translated as the  Strength of the Light) Crispin Izquierdo Torres, spiritual leader od Arhuacu Indigenous people from   Sierra Nevada in Colombia.

They discussed a possible programme in rescuing ancestral knowledge of on sustainable development goals. This concept which emerged only relatively recently in contemporary world, has been a pillar of traditional indigenous beliefs throughout South America. Details of the programme  will be available shortly and links are being forged with UNESCO, especially following its  declaration of the  decade on indigenous languages in 2023,  and also indigenous communities in Central and South America and in the Philippines.
