Establishment of SSCC corporate advisory board and invitation to corporate sector to join
South-South Cooperation Council for Sustainable Development (SSCC) is a nonprofit global organization established in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. It operates throughout global south (South, Central America and the Caribbean, Africa, Middle East and Asia/Pacific.
Its human capital consists of leaders from the world of politics and governance (Policy Advisory Board) or academic (scientific and academic board).
Its past and ongoing programmes include:
Production of docufiction films which focus on the struggle against racism and discrimination (the docufiction Ulysses from Ghana inaugurated UNESCO II Forum against Racism and Discrimination in Mexico City in November 2022.
Building of a programme on culture as a tool for peace in Africa, especially West Africa and Horn of Africa involving African countries and European Cultural Parliament.
Resiliart as a model to support Sustainable Development Goals (this programme started in Manila in 2021 and is ongoing);
Establishment of a network on indigenous and African affairs to coincide with decade on indigenous languages established by UNESCO in December 2022
Supporting the first true globalization since 16th century linked with Galeón de Manila and circumnavigation (Philippines/Spain/Mexico)
Using resiliart concept, developed by UNESCO during the pandemic as an educational tool
Using culture to promote social programmes in underprivileged communities, especially with afro descendant and indigenous population with pilot programs in Colombia.
Further use of culture, especially theatre, music and dance to promote climate change resilience and environmental protection, with special emphasis on water. A festival and forum is planned on oceans and freshwater in Spain in the spring of 2024.
Promoting twinning between cities and provinces of south hemisphere to force academic, cultural, tourism and environmental programmes. Among cities of global south
Emphasis on promoting awareness of the importance of indigenous African culture through cooperation with Pan African Heritage Museum which, when inaugurated, will become the largest cultural institution in Africa.
SSCC has forged a strong relationship with UNESCO and supports in particular its Cultural Diversity and Road to Peace programmes.
