Claudia Turbay and Hedva Ser Meet in Paris

Claudia Turbay, Director of External Affairs of SSCC and Hedva Ser, member of SSCC Policy Advisory Board and UNESCO Goodwill ambassador for cultural diplomacy met in Paris on 3rd May to discuss SSCC policies and programs involving Hedva Ser. These included her status Tree of Peace, the symbol of peace of UNESCO, where efforts are being made to place it on one or two locations in Colombia.

Hedva Ser is deeply involved in several programs of SSCC. First, she championed the docufiction Ulysses from Ghana which has since become the UNESCO symbol of the struggle against racism and discrimination and inaugurated II UNESCO Forum against Racism and Discrimination in Mexico City in October 2022.

SSCC is currently also in discussions with a number of local Governments in Colombia with a view to placing Tree of Peace on iconic squares in Colombia.

Last, Hedva Ser has been a key supporter of SSCC important programme “The Culture of Peace and Security in Africa: The Quest for Stewardship and Cooperative Engagement”. Hedva met earlier in the day with Mr. Anthony Kwaku Ohemeng-Boamah, Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations of UNESCO to discuss UNESCO involvement in this programme, especially during SSCC Chairman’s visit to Paris this summer.
