Celebrating UNESCO Dia del Galeon

SSCC joined UNESCO in celebrating its Día del Galeón which marks circumnavigation of the globe from Spain to Veracruz, then by land to Acapulco and finally to Manila. Mrs. Alvarez, a distinguished member of SSCC Policy Advisory Board was one of the architects of Día del Galeón Resolution which was passed by UNESCO in 2009.

On 8th October 2021, video conference was organized to mark Día del Galeón in which both Mrs. Álvarez and SSCC Chairman, Viktor Sebek participated with statements. The session was opened by Mrs. Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director General of UNESCO for Social and Human Sciences, and several distinguished political figures, principally from Spain, in Valencia, where SSCCC Chairman was invited.

The agenda is enclosed and the work will continue in Manila where Mrs. Álvarez announced a number of important proposals which will be incorporated in the Manila Platform of Action, including biennial Festival of Día del Galeón, starting in October 2022 in Manila.
