SSCC is pleased to welcome Camilo Botero as the new member of its Scientific and Academic Advisory Board. Camilo is an expert in integrated coastal management, marine law and beach management. He has served as technical secretary of the national committees on Tsunami, El Niño Phenomenon, Marine Pollution and Integrated Coastal Zones Management of the Colombian Ocean Commission. He held teaching positions as a professor in Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Puerto Rico and Uruguay on issues of integrated coastal management, coastal law and research methods. He is currently the General Coordinator of the Ibero-American Network for Beach Management and Certification. And a member of the Academy of Geographical Sciences of Colombia, Liga Marítima de Colombia, Ibero-American Network for Integrated Coastal Management and the Coastal Education and Research Foundation. He is researcher of the Joaquin Aaron Manjarres Group of the School of Law at the Sergio Arboleda University - Santa Marta (Colombia). Member of the Scientific Committee of the UNESCO’s Magazine ‘Costas’, reviewer in three journals of the Elsevier Editorial Group and Academic Evaluator of the Ministry of Education of Colombia. He is an author of more than 90 publications, including books, scientific and popular articles
